VertaPlex HV
Ready when you are.
VertaPlex® HV High Viscosity Bone Cement
VertaPlex HV addresses several needs expressed by practitioner specialists regarding ease of use and individualized patient care. The cement achieves a thick viscosity as soon as it’s mixed so there’s no waiting time. It maintains this viscous state for an average of 18 minutes or longer, helping to satisfying the desire for immediate and longer working time.
VertaPlex HV’s thick viscosity helps contribute to a controlled fill that interdigitates with the trabecular bone. Other benefits of VertaPlex HV include a fast set time at simulated in-vivo temperature - approximately 10.2 minutes at 37 degrees Celsius, a lower creep rate to help reduce risk of leakage, and a 30 percent barium sulfate concentration to provide greater visibility in radiology images.
Features:
- Immediate high viscosity after mixing
- Controlled interdigitation and fill
- Working time – approximately 18 minutes
- Set time 10.2 minutes at 37ºC
- Lower creep rate
- Increased viscosity improves visibility
- 30% barium sulfate concentration

VertaPlex HV high viscosity bone cement from Stryker.
As a leading manufacturer of bone cement, Stryker helps set the industry standard with a range of bone cements addressing specific viscosity and working time preferences for the treatment of vertebral compression fractures.
VertaPlex HV reaches a thick viscosity as soon as it’s mixed so there’s no waiting. It maintains its viscous state for an average of over 18 minutes and it’s increased viscosity also contributes to improved visibility and control.
Other benefits include a short mixing time and fast set time. VertaPlex HV also has a lower creep rate which significantly helps to reduce leakage risks. And it contains 30% barium sulfate, giving great visibility.
VertaPlex HV is 1 of 3 bone cements offered by Stryker to satisfy physician cement preferences and individual patient need. This graph shows the performance data for each. The viscosity and working times for Stryker bone cements provide a controlled, demonstratively more even fill than that of other available cements.
VertaPlex HV is engineered to optimize mix, work and set times. It provides immediate and constant high viscosity for up to 18 minutes. It interdigitates throughout the trabecular structure. And it sets in approximely 10.2 minutes at 37 degrees Celcius.

VertaPlex HV:
Interdigitation Overview
VertaPlex® HV Bone Cement: Interdigitation Overview (1:56)
Part Number: 1000-025-031 Rev None
Vertaplex HV high viscosity bone cement effectively interdigitates with the surrounding bone. High viscosity properties of VertaPlex HV allow a controlled flow pattern throughout the trabelular bone of the vertebral body, interdigitating bone tissue and cement. This is important because studies suggest that a lack of interdigitation may be a contributing factor in adjacent vertebral compression fractures.
According to multiple studies, vertebral compression fractures are the most common types of osteoporotic fractures. Interdigitation is particularly critical for osteoporatic fractures because there is less cancellous bones and large voids.
VertePlex HV’s high viscosity is designed to evenly fill the fracture and then interlink with the trabecular bone, similar to the appearance of the way fingers intertwine when you fold your hands.
The result is a mechanical interlock that strengthens and reinforces the vertebral body.
Immediate and constant high viscosity. VertaPlex HV. Only from Stryker.
